Workspace
Obsidian (free and externally developed) is the primary workspace for BiblicalStory substrate and is ideal for a broad range of research disciplines.
synapse
Synapse allows Obsidian to access local and remote research libraries. Synapse functions through a standardardized research transport protocol (synapse RTP) to link the Obsidian workspace to external (BiblicalStory by default) and local (like Endnote or Zotero) libraries. Developers can convert their libraries to synapse-RTP through synapseconvert (see Developer Tools below).

L-IRF
The L-IRF (L-interdisciplinary research framework) facilitates the organization, generation, and synthesis of research across diverse academic fields, grounded in logocentric theological/literary/scientific philosophy and is thus built around the structures found in the hebrew and greek Scriptures.
L-IRF is published under the Open Science Framework and may be accessed by clicking one of the links below. BiblicalStory Substrate is actively seeking development partners for this project. Please contact us at request@biblicalstory.org for more information on becoming a development partner.

Developer Tools
Build with BiblicalStory Substrate.
Access developer tools that make your research interoperable, powerful, and quietly rooted in the L-IRF framework. Synapse libraries, conversion scripts, database integrated version control (coming soon), and guidelines help your project snap into the future. These tools are just the beginning of the development-rich eco-system we are building — so check back for more soon.
synapseconvert
Build a synapse library for your enterprise. Convert a spreadsheet to synapse JSON (S-RTP) for creating or synapse JSON (S-RTP) to spreadsheet for editing. Using this PyPI library allows you to make your library synapse-ready, allowing your users to integrate your resource libraries into Obsidian.
–>Get the tool on PyPI
–>Download xlsx and json templates on GitHub
This tool downloads and runs from the command-line. See the README file for installation and usage instructions.
BiblicalStory Usage Guidelines
BiblicalStory is a foundation for broader project development. We have written these guidelines with you in mind.
synapse source code
View synapse open-source code on GitHub and adapt it for your purposes. synapse GitHub repository
Obsidian Git (externally developed, highly advanced)
Obsidian Git allows Git version control within the Obsidian environment through a connection to a local git environment and an external user-controlled GitHub repository. If synapse is the inbound connector, Obsidian Git is the outbound connector.

About
BiblicalStory Substrate brings the infrastructure necessary to bear the weight of the future of research. Substrate is about continuously developing an open and integrated development environment (IDE) for institutions, researchers, educators, pastors, and developers that functions across disciplines using currently unparalleled interdisciplinary thought-modeling—with scriptural λογος embedded at the core. As such, our tools are open, editable, and interface with the best of other open systems to create an ever expanding interconnected system of research and thought. We are building on cloud platforms to maximize integration potential with both institutions and other development enterprises. The power of Obsidian alone is staggering in its utter simplicity — the power of markdown files to revolutionize how information is shared among research communities in a world of AI automation is nearly limitless. Synapse takes Obsidian and gives it the power of remote connectivity. L-IRF is the dynamic core of Substrate and is one of the most advanced models of interdisciplinarity available today, laying the groundwork for partnerships and collaborations never before thought possible.
Together these tools offer a shared platform for serious thinkers and organizations to work across boundaries with clarity and vision. If you’re a researcher, church, institution, or developer looking to build with us — we’d love to hear from you. Reach out at request@biblicalstory.org
